Decontamination of Reusable Invasive Medical Devices - Credited

This module is designed to educate all levels of staff employed within the decontamination services from technicians to decontamination leads. This online module aims to educate and inform evidence based practice that encompasses the roles of decontamination departments.
The module experience will comprise of formative phases utilising patchwork text/media assessment within this module. Students' participation in online discussion and Wiki activities, including peer assessment, will contribute to their final e-portfolio submitted for assessment.
The module covers individual preparation for the environment, the decontamination process for surgical instruments, packing, storage and traceability of invasive medical devices. In addition, it will explore both local and national policies and regulations regarding Health and Safety, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and Reporting of Injuries, Disease and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) in the workplace.
Students will undertake a series of formative E-tivities to help develop their knowledge regarding decontamination procedures and a summative assessment of the final E-portfolio.
