Community Practitioner Nurse Prescribing (V100)
Level 6
15 Credits
The course aims to prepare nurses, midwives and specialist community public health nurses to prescribe safely, appropriately and cost-effectively, from the community practitioners' formulary for nurse prescribers.
It forms an integral element of the SCPHN BSc Hons course but can also be accessed as a stand-alone module for students, who already hold an SCPHN qualification or specialised practice qualification (SPQ).
At level 4, students must demonstrate an advanced level of pharmacological knowledge, as well as evaluate, analyse and integrate evidence used in support of the prescribing rationale and decision-making processes, specifically related to a prescribing episode.
Throughout all the assessment elements any action or omission that is considered to be unsafe or illegal practice will result in a fail grade being awarded.
