Clinical Supervision Workshop

Aim: to improve awareness of clinical supervision and the potential for it to positively influence individual practice and teamwork within the practitioner's own clinical area. The training will not only focus on the theory of clinical supervision, but also offer the opportunity to develop skills, and increase the confidence of staff in carrying out clinical supervision within their own clinical area.

The workshop will last for one and a half days, and the content has been refined and developed through previous workshops with staff from the same PCT, who are often supervising and managing colleagues within community based settings. The feedback from evaluations of all of the previous workshops has suggested that clinicians found them to be very useful. It is felt that the workshops offer a valuable opportunity to help staff reflect upon and develop their personal approach and skills in supporting colleagues to assist them to practice effectively and continue to develop and learn from their experiences in order to be able to offer excellent patient care.
The workshop is facilitated by Dr Nick Wrycraft whose PhD and Masters dissertation both focused on research on clinical supervision, with the latter concerning introducing a clinical supervision programme within a PCT.
