Cardiac Arrhythmias: Analysis, Interpretation and Management
Level 6
15 Credits
Cardiac arrhythmias are the main causes of premature death in clients with coronary heart disease. Cardiac arrhythmias can lead to haemodynamic impairment, compromised myocardial ischaemia and to more pernicious arrhythmias. They require immediate assessment and effective treatment. Health care practitioners should be able to recognise cardiac arrhythmias, understand their significance and take appropriate actions in order to respond to potential and actual deterioration in a client's condition.
This module focuses on various cardiac arrhythmias, the haemodynamic effects of cardiac arrhythmias, the clinical presentations and various strategies for the management of cardiac arrhythmias such as pacing and anti-arrhythmia drugs.
This module can be delivered via distance learning.
