Course summary
STaR aims to teach when, where and how to transfer patients safely and the procedures for before and after the transfer. The STaR two day course includes lectures, skills stations, workshops and trolley top simulations.

Course objectives

• Understand when to transfer
• Understand what to do before transfer
• Understand how to transfer
• Understand what to do after a transfer
• Be able to demonstrate the transfer process

Who should attend?
Candidates who have taken the course include; nurses, paramedics, ODPs, consultants and registrars. For suitability for other professionals, please contact the course co-ordinator.

Assessment and certification

Continuous assessment throughout face to face skills stations and demonstration of simulation followed by a one hour multi choice question (MCQ) paper. Certification for the course is valid for 4 years.

Workshop 1: 26 and 27 October 2013
Workshop 2: 5 and 6 April 2014
