Course summary
POET aims to teach the practical procedures necessary to save the mother and foetus in life threatening circumstances before admission to hospital. The POET course comprises a flexible on-line learning component (VLE) and a two-day face-to-face course.

Candidates who have taken the course include paramedics, midwives, community nurses and GPs. For suitability for other professionals please contact the course co-ordinator.

- Provide knowledge to save both mother and foetus in life threatening situations.
- Teach the practical procedures necessary to save the mother and foetus from a life threatening situation.
- Test the acquisition of the knowledge and skills.

Asessment and Certification
Continuous assessment throughout face to face skills stations and demonstration of simulation followed by a one hour multi choice question (MCQ) paper.
Certification for the course is valid for 4 years where during this period VLE access with be available
