Course summary

POET aims to teach the practical procedures necessary to save the mother and foetus in life threatening circumstances before admission to hospital. The POET course comprises a flexible on-line learning component (VLE) and a two-day face-to-face course.

Course objectives

• Provide knowledge to save both mother and foetus in life threatening situations.
• Teach the practical procedures necessary to save the mother and foetus from a life threatening situation.
• Test the acquisition of the knowledge and skills.

Who should attend?

Candidates who have taken the course include paramedics, midwives, community nurses and GPs. For suitability for other professionals please contact the course co-ordinator.

Asessment and Certification

Continuous assessment throughout face to face skills stations and demonstration of simulation followed by a one hour multi choice question (MCQ) paper.

Certification for the course is valid for 4 years where during this period VLE access with be available
