Course summary
Pre-Hospital Paediatric Life Support (PHPLS) is a leading pre-hospital emergency paediatric life support course.
It is taught and its principles are practised throughout the world. Course comprises a flexible one-day on-line component (VLE) and a two-day face-to-face course.

Course objectives
- Provide the knowledge necessary for effective treatment and stabilisation of children with life threatening emergencies prior to arrival at hospital
- Teach the practical procedures for effective management childhood emergencies prior to hospital admission
- Test the acquisition of these skills

Candidates who have taken the course include medical staff, nurses and paramedics.
Assessment
- Continuous assessment throughout face to face skills stations and demonstration of simulation followed by a one hour multi choice question (MCQ) paper
- Certification is valid for four years and includes VLE access during this time
