The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) strive to raise awareness among health care staff to extend their knowledge and understanding of the fundamental aspects of good nutritional care, which assists in the general health and well-being of an individual, and supports the care and management of many illnesses and diseases.

This one day workshop aims to introduce participants to an awareness of nutrition and hydration care approaches, current research and policy direction. Plus explore a number of strategies that can be applied within the practice setting.

Workshop content

A one day workshop, which explores the impact of nutrition and hydration on the individual and the approaches to meet basic nutritional health care needs.

Content of the workshop include presentations and discussion on:

• The nature of good nutrition and hydration for health
• Nutritional screening and measurement tools
• National and local policies in context

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This workshop is open to all health care support staff with an interest in finding out more about nutrition and hydration.
