Anglia Ruskin welcomes President of the Law Society

Anglia Ruskin University has introduced some of its budding solicitors to the most influential body from its sector - The Law Society of England and Wales - in order to bring them up to the minute with news from the top of the legal profession.

The University arranged the special visit from Andrew Holroyd OBE, President of the Law Society and is a leading and trusted authority on all legal issues. In his third annual visit to our University, he offered support, advice and an insight into the Society, which delivers practical support throughout solicitors' careers, to its hard-working law students.

During the visit he viewed the progress of the new Faculty building on Rivermead Campus, Chelmsford with the Dean of the School of Arts Law and Social Sciences (ALSS), Professor Monika Pruetzel-Thomas, which will accommodate the Chelmsford law students and feature a new mock law court.
Andrew Holroyd said:

"This country isn't home to some of the finest legal minds in the world by accident. Good training breeds good solicitors, so I'm confident the new court room training facilities will be of great assistance to our solicitors of tomorrow."

Senior Lecturer, Christopher Menzies added:

"This visit of the President of the Law Society of England and Wales confirms the importance that the organisation places on the training of future solicitors. Mr Holroyd confirmed our view that professional ethics can never be compromised.

"We are delighted to have been able to show him the new facilities that are coming on stream for the training of new solicitors, particularly the new court room which will be used for advocacy training."

Anglia Ruskin University's aim is to help its law students to achieve academic and professional excellence and the visit confirms that our University is doing everything it can to prepare its graduate students to start their legal careers on the right footing.

Anglia Ruskin University's Legal Practice Course is a one year full-time (Chelmsford) and two year part-time (Cambridge) postgraduate course that trains graduates to become solicitors.

Mr Holroyd's address to students in Chelmsford was broadcast directly from the Michael A Ashcroft Building on Rivermead Campus to our University's Cambridge Campus.
