A 'taster day' has been staged by Anglia Ruskin University to make Year 9 and 10 students from Essex think about studying at higher education level. The 'Uni 4 U' day, aimed at students who might be the first in their family to consider the university route, was held at Anglia Ruskin University's Chelmsford Campus.

'Uni 4 U - a taste of your local University' was directed at potential students and their families. It followed on from the success of the first family day staged by the University last July. The day was especially for students aged 13-15 years, and their parents, to get a taste of local University.

The day began with a welcome talk from Anglia Ruskin University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Thorne and was followed by a selection of drop-in activities which ran continuously throughout the day. The sessions included Cheap as Chips, an interactive session run by Student Support Services team, demonstrating ways to live on a student budget.

Other highlights included Campus tours, involving a look at on-campus student accommodation; Quiz a student ambassador which gave students a chance to meet other students and find out about their experiences; and Student Fees and Finances, an up-to-date session on the student finance system.
