Professor Mike Thorne, Vice Chancellor, conveyed his congratulations to Stefan, Daniel, Philip and Felix:
"BRAVO! Superb achievement. Well done all of you."
Professor Martin Reynolds, Dean of Ashcroft International Business School was delighted:
"Fantastic result - well done all - most impressive - what can one say other than celebrate."
Professor Stuart Wall, Head of Department of the Business School added:
"Absolutely brilliant - this team has even surpassed the thrilling second place we achieved two years ago in this premier university competition."
Colleagues in the Business School have also congratulated the team for their splendid effort. Anglia Ruskin has been very successful over the years in the IBM UBC competition. Under Glyn Burton's guidance, our teams reached the semi-finals four years running, culminating in 2005-6 with our team being second only to Manchester Business School.
Stefan, Daniel, Philip and Felix have worked very hard since October 2007. They won through the heats in the lead up to Christmas which involved 232 university teams, winning their semi-final at Portsmouth on 29th January, and finally winning the competition on 8th March.
Larry Hirst, Country General Manager of IBM UK, gave a very interesting presentation followed by a Q&A session with the 48 students at the finals.
Learning Dynamics Ltd, which runs the UBC competition, will formally present the trophy at Anglia Ruskin at a date to be announced.
