A group of third year BA Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Management students are inviting local schools and businesses to take part in an Apprentice-style competition to raise funds for social and environmental development in the Cambridge area.

Funds will be raised for Future Business, to develop the Future Business Centre - a new social and environmental business incubation centre on Kings Hedges Road.

The competition, Social Enterprise Multiplier, will challenge participants with planning, budgeting and implementing an innovative fundraising initiative. Teams will be judged by a panel of local business experts, led by Hugh Parnell of NW Brown Group, to see who has come up with the most creative idea and raised the most money from their start-up fund.

Teams are allowed to invest up to £2,000 in their fundraising initiative, and Future Business will match the total amount of funds invested. At the end of the competition, teams will return the matched funds and any profit to Future Business and simply take back the original sum they have invested.

The Social Enterprise Multiplier competition will be launched at an event on Monday 31 January 2011 at Anglia Ruskin University and will run for three months. To attend the launch event and find out more about this innovative social enterprise competition, email the Social Enterprise Multiplier team at info.multiplier@gmail.com or visit www.futurebusiness.co.uk
