Unfortunately, owing to unforeseen demands upon his time in the current economic climate, Will Hutton will be unable to give the planned lecture on Ruskin & Employability on Friday 10 October. This event will therefore NOT take place this Friday as planned. Will apologises for this unavoidable change and will be re-scheduling this event for an alternative date.

A celebrated author, columnist, television and radio commentator on political and economic events will give a lecture reviewing the contribution of John Ruskin to employability in the Mumford Theatre on Friday 10 October to which members of the public are invited.

The lecture by Will Hutton, who is Chief Executive of The Work Foundation, formerly the Industrial Society, is a part of the University's 150 Year Anniversary Celebration programme.

Will has written several best-selling titles including The World We're In, The State We're In, The State to Come, The Stakeholding Society, On The Edge with Anthony Giddens, and most recently The Writing on the Wall: China and the West in the 21st Century. He is a former winner of the Political Journalist of the Year award and was invited by the EU Commission to join a High-level Group on the mid-term review of the Lisbon strategy, acting as rapporteur.

Other roles Will performs outside The Work Foundation include being Governor of the London School of Economics; Honorary Fellow, Mansfield College, Oxford; Visiting Professor, Manchester University Business School and Bristol University and a member of the Scott Trust. He is also a Fellow of the Sunningdale Institute and spent four years as editor-in-chief of The Observer and director of the Guardian National Newspapers.
Will has long standing connections with Anglia Ruskin University, having spoken several times in the past to its various student societies.

Colleagues such as Stuart Wall, Alan Griffiths, Pip Jones, Tony Bilton and other past and present members of Anglia Ruskin have all worked with Will in various ways in the past.
