Anglia Ruskin looks towards milestone move to Rivermead

Anglia Ruskin University have confirmed that the final preparations for the planned move of all facilities from its former Central location, in Chelmsford, to the new single site Rivermead campus are almost complete.

The sale to Countryside Properties has been concluded on an unconditional basis. Following on from the vacation of the Park Road facility and the Anne Knight Building, dates have now been confirmed for the final push to move all teaching facilities to the fast-developing Rivermead area.

During the month of July 2007, the University will handover the North Block, the demountable building and the small car park to developers Countryside Properties plc. All other parts of the former campus will be passed over in the autumn of 2008. This will help to pave the way for the next phase in the redevelopment of the area into the planned Arts and Commercial Quarter.

The University is currently constructing a new £8m healthcare education centre to help modernise and grow the Essex healthcare workforce of the future. A recent ground-breaking event signalled the start of construction of the state-of-the-art building for Anglia Ruskin's Institute of Health and Social Care (IHSC).

The new centre, positioned between the Tindal and Mildmay Buildings, should be up and running by the start of the academic year 2007.
