Anglia Ruskin University is running a special event on 22 March 2011 for anyone interested in postgraduate courses, vocational qualifications and research opportunities.
The event, which will be held at Anglia Ruskin's Chelmsford and Cambridge campuses, will give people the opportunity to talk to course leaders and directors from the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science & Technology, Faculty of Arts, Law & Social Sciences, Ashcroft International Business School and the Faculty of Health & Social Care.
Anglia Ruskin's postgraduate courses boast an excellent employment rate. According to the recent Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey, 89% of respondents who had studied a postgraduate course at Anglia Ruskin reported being in employment, compared to a national figure of 84%.
One student who saw an immediate benefit of studying at Anglia Ruskin was Vanessa Lewis Camacho, who graduated with an MA/Grad ICSA in Corporate Governance and is now the Assistant Company Secretary at Britvic in Chelmsford.
Vanessa said:
"As a mature student returning to study after several years of working overseas, choosing the right university was very important to me - I wanted to feel like more than just a number.
"Overall, my experience of studying at the University was a pleasurable one. I enjoyed the opportunity to study full-time, over one year, having spent many years working and studying part-time. I was able to interact with other students from many different backgrounds and I made use of the full resources available to me in the University Library.
"I completed my course as an ICSA graduate, which meant that I was able to apply immediately for Associate Membership of the ICSA. Completion of my course also led to a promotion at work. I am now the Assistant Company Secretary of Britvic Plc, reporting directly to the Company Secretary."
Prospective students will also be able to learn about courses that are being offered for the first time, including Anglia Ruskin's new one-year MA in Film and Television Production.
The course, which begins in September, will focus on factual programming such as documentaries and educational television. Students will learn how to produce broadcast-standard films, how to research audiences and the financial and commercial aspects of programme making necessary to become a successful producer.

The MA in Film and Television Production is being run in partnership with Channel 4 and will include lectures and seminars with their business and editorial staff. 4Rights, the commercial arm of Channel 4, will make funds available to develop student proposals which it considers justify investment.

"We're delighted that Channel 4 and 4Rights have kindly offered to support our new MA in Film and Television Production. Having inputs and insights from experts at the heart of the TV world is a massive bonus for our students. And 4Rights' kind offer to provide development funding for students whose work they consider worthy of investment is a huge benefit for this degree."
