Anglia Ruskin University is once again preparing to open their doors to all who want to find out more about studying at a higher level.

The forthcoming Open Day on Saturday 19 May will allow potential students of all ages and backgrounds to find out more about undergraduate study. It is also open to members of the local community who may simply wish to come along and see what their local university looks like.

Anglia Ruskin University will be showcasing a large portfolio of high quality courses and members of the University's teaching and administrative staff will be available on the day to offer individuals information to help them make informed decisions about study options including details about the various programme start dates.

The faculties involved include:
  • Arts, Law and Social Sciences
  • the Ashcroft International Business School
  • Education
  • Health and Social Care
  • Science and Technology
Several new study courses are introduced each year and information about these will be available on the day. One such course starting at Cambridge this September is the BA (Hons) Management and Leadership degree which is a new work based course targeted at high achieving students who wish to develop skills and understanding relevant to the real world of work.
Said Richard Howarth, Course Leader:

"We are very excited about this new degree which offers students the opportunity to fast track their business careers through innovative course design and students spending the majority of their time working and studying at the same time learning about organisations from the inside. In addition to the knowledge and skills benefits offered by this approach, students will also benefit from a sponsorship package that covers course fees and provides a salary of between £8,000 and £12,000 when they are on placement in Years 2 and 3. Our recent partnership with Barclays Bank Plc to deliver a linked programme adds both assurance and credibility to the overall course design and approach."

A comprehensive programme of talks, tours and activities will be included in the day put on by many of the different departments which will make finding out about specific courses and Higher Education in general far easier for all visitors.

In addition to the academic areas being open to all, and the Students Union representatives being on hand to detail the service they offer to students, other departments including accommodation, admissions and libraries will be staffed with experts; and the sports facilities and language centres will be 'on show' for the day.
Said External Liaison Manager Rachel Nedwell:

"Staff and current students at Anglia Ruskin University look forward to welcoming potential students, their families and members of the local community onto campus to find out more about what we have to offer and to have a look around our developing facilities.

"We have a host of course leaders on hand to give advice about specific subject areas, with the many high quality work-related teaching and learning programmes on offer it is often the case that there are a range of options available within any given subject.

"We believe that our students are our best ambassadors and to this end we always ensure that there are plenty of current students at our Open Days and we would encourage all visitors to ask them about their experience at Anglia Ruskin University."

Anglia Ruskin University's courses are designed with the help of the regional, national and international businesses and organisations to ensure that graduates are guaranteed to be work-ready and highly sought after in terms of graduate employability.

Anglia Ruskin University Open Days generally attract 800-1,000 prospective students to the campus plus members of their family and friends. There are four Open Days staged during the year. Each one is a key recruitment day for the University.

Those interested in attending one of the Open Days can pre-register online at www.anglia.ac.uk/liveandlearn or call 0845 271 3333 for more details on which courses are offered on which campus.
