Press release issued: 13 January 2010
Graham Ramsay, who was appointed to his position at Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust in September 2009, has just become a visiting Professor of Anglia Ruskin. Within his portfolio, he was also Director of Patient Safety and Director of Infection Prevention and Control.
Prior to this Professor Ramsay was Executive Director to a group of three hospitals in South Netherlands. He holds an MBChB (Bachelor of Surgery) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. His previous work and research activity has seen his involvement with Ischemia reperfusion injury, the prediction of sepsis and Multiple Organ Failure in patients admitted to ICU, and ICU infections.
"This new role will allow Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust to continue its long-standing relationship with Anglia Ruskin University. It is my aim to stimulate more academic links between the Trust focusing particularly on clinical research and healthcare outcomes. Involvement as a partner in the Postgraduate Medical Institute and through that, with the wider Health Innovation and Education Clusters, presents huge opportunities for research for the benefit of the Essex population we serve."
Professor Hunt has been involved in nursing research since the late 1960s culminating in holding the post of Director of the Nursing Research Initiative for Scotland. She brings to the Faculty extensive research, publication, management, professional and consultancy experience. Professor Hunt will be supporting the development of nursing research in the Faculty.
Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean at Anglia Ruskin, David Humber sees these new appointments as key to the continuing development of the Faculty of Health and Social Care.
"This is very exciting news for Anglia Ruskin University particularly as we move forward with the creation of the new Postgraduate Medical Institute facility for the East of England. By attracting such high calibre experts from the healthcare sector to help deliver positive outcomes, Anglia Ruskin is fast becoming the regional nucleus for education, training, medical research and development."
