There's a new look to the 11th Little Havens Chelmsford Bike Ride.

Taking place on Sunday 13 May, for the first time the rides will be starting and finishing at Anglia Ruskin University. There are still the usual distances of 50 miles, 25 miles and 10 miles.

The event has become extremely well established over the years, with families coming from all over Essex to enjoy the picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. Last year, 600 people took part raising £13,000 for Little Havens.

The event is not a race with the emphasis being on fun! It costs £3 for under-16's and £5 for adults to sign up in advance with extra charges made for registering on the day. It is a sponsored ride and participants are being encouraged to ask friends and family for a donation.
Event Fundraiser for Little Havens, Judy Grocott says:

"We are really excited about this change of venue. Hopefully it will mean even more people can take part making this year's event will be bigger and better than before."

Steve Dupree, Head of Sport, Active Lifestyles and Wellbeing says:

"Raising money for a local charity, and providing a base for an activity that is fun, healthy and Green, fits in with what we are trying to achieve with students and staff here at Anglia Ruskin. Our mantra is "more people, more active, more of the time". The Thursday before the ride (10 May) sees our very own Ruskin Run and Walk take place, enabling activity on foot during the week and a bike ride a few days later. We are delighted to play host to this type of event, and would encourage other organisations to contact us if they have similar suggestions."

The Little Havens Chelmsford Bike Ride is being sponsored by M&G Investments and supported and co-organised by Chelmsford Cycling Club.

Little Havens is the children's hospice of Essex. It is based in Thundersley but cares for life-limited children from all over the county. In fact 15% of referrals come from Chelmsford and surrounding areas. It provides respite and end-of-life care for youngsters who are not expected to reach adulthood. Little Havens costs £1.6 million every year to keep running, with 81p in every pound needed coming from a charitable donation.
