Anglia Ruskin University this week hosted a visit from a delegation of education officials from the ChungchongNam-do Office of Education (CNOE) in Korea, who are visiting Cambridge to sign an agreement that will see 24 teachers from the Chung Nam Province attending teacher training courses at the University this summer. This new link with the education representatives has the potential to introduce the University to a network of teachers from over 700 schools in the Province.

The visit is the second to take place in recent months. A previous visit from a group of Ministers of Education from Seoul took place earlier this year. They were also preparing the way for teachers from Korea to come to the University's Department of Languages and Intercultural Communication to participate in a Teacher Development Course, specifically designed for Korean teachers of English.

Jong-Won Lee, the Deputy Governor of Education for the Chung Nam Province and three of his colleagues were welcomed to Anglia Ruskin's East Road campus by the Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University, Professor David Tidmarsh before taking a tour of the facilities offered to students on and off-campus in Cambridge.

The four-week teacher training course was developed by Sarah Schechter, Director of Languages Enterprise together with EFL Programme Leader, Nick Hilman. The course, planned for delivery later this year, will be delivered by staff at the University. During the course teachers will observe English as a Foreign Language lessons within the University as well as foreign language lessons in local secondary schools.
