Graduate job hunters - the jobs are definitely out there
Press release issued: 17 June 2010
Anglia Ruskin's Survive & Thrive programme is dedicating its summer calendar to helping graduates improve their CVs, job applications, interviewing and job search skills.
Almost 40 per cent of employers are planning to raise graduate recruitment this year, according to research by the Association of Graduate Recruiters. Their findings are supported by the careers website Graduate Prospects, which has experienced a 50 per cent increase in advertising from recruiters in the first four months of 2010 compared to the same period last year.
To help graduates stand out in a crowded recruitment market, Anglia Ruskin University is offering free two-hour employment sessions with its Careers & Employability Advisors to graduates from any UK university living in the area. It covers assessing your skills, CV advice, writing killer job applications, how to get work experience, job search and networking, improving interview techniques and developing an action plan.

Rosie Jones, a graduate from the University of East London attended the session in September, said:
"The interview section was brilliant, very informative and the CV section was also very good. The fact the presenters were very lively and interesting made the workshop excellent."
Anyone who books a place and turns up for the session will be entered into a draw to win an iPod Touch. The free session will run every Wednesday from 14 July 2010 to 1 September 2010, 14.00 - 16.00 at the Chelmsford and Cambridge campuses.
The sessions are open to recent graduates and postgraduates (2008, 2009 and 2010 leavers) and undergraduates going into their final year. Call 0845 196 3177 or email Survive & Thrive to book a place.
