Extra places for University Centre Peterborough

Anglia Ruskin University has allocated an extra 110 student places to University Centre Peterborough for courses beginning this September.

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) awarded 20,000 extra places to institutions that are charging average tuition fees of £7,500 or less for their degree courses. Anglia Ruskin received 569 extra places in total, more than any other university in England.

University Centre Peterborough is a joint venture between Anglia Ruskin University and Peterborough Regional College, and currently has 637 students enrolled.

Combined with the recently opened Guild House facility on Oundle Road, which offers a range of Nursing and Social Work courses, over 1,300 people are studying with Anglia Ruskin in Peterborough.

Anglia Ruskin's Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Thorne, said:

"We are pleased to have been awarded an extra 569 places for the next academic year which, combined with a year-on-year increase in application numbers, strengthens our view that Anglia Ruskin is seen as an affordable, accessible and attractive place to study.

"University Centre Peterborough is dedicated to delivering high-quality university education and the extra 110 places will allow more people than ever to study with us in Peterborough from this September.

When we established University Centre Peterborough in 2008 it represented the most important higher education development in the city's history. With the help of local stakeholders and everyone involved in University Centre Peterborough, we aim to continue to grow student numbers in the city and build a university that Peterborough can be proud of."
