Alumnus up for Classical Brit Award
Press release issued: 26 March 2008
We are proud to announce that former Anglia Ruskin music student Oliver Baines, as part of the group 'Blake', has been nominated for a Classical Brit award.
Blake have been nominated for the Album of the Year at this year's Classical Brits for their gold selling eponymous debut.
Blake have had an amazing rise to fame, since forming on Facebook last year. Their debut album topped the classical charts as the biggest selling classical debut of 2007, has now gone gold, and has gained them fans from Keira Knightley to Cilla Black.
The boys sang a surprise rendition of Happy Birthday at Dame Shirley Bassey's 70th birthday party, have hung out with Will Smith, and are well on the way to becoming showbiz royalty. They also found time to record the 2007 Rugby World Cup official anthem 'Swing Low', which they were invited to perform at Twickenham.
