Anglia Ruskin Students win 'one' sponsorship

London Eastern Railway 'one' has teamed up with the Anglia Ruskin University to offer a new and generous sponsorship programme to improve the career opportunities available to some specially selected students from the Ashcroft International Business School (AIBS).

'one' has agreed to sponsor up to three students per year who are studying for Business and Management Degrees. This year there were two successful students - Anna Saunders (18) from Kesgrave, Suffolk and Daniel Judd (18) from Chelmsford, Essex - who completed an essay assessment and interview process.

The successful students both began a three-year undergraduate business programme at AIBS in September 2005.

'one' will now pay for their tuition fees throughout their studies and offer them seasonal work with 'one' during the summer holidays.

Subject to satisfactory performance and attendance during their academic period and the attainment of a minimum of a 2:1 degree classification, a work placement within 'one' will be offered.

Student Anna Saunders is delighted to have been selected for the sponsorship.
She said:

"This is a wonderful opportunity for us to be offered such amazing support from the business sector so early in our studies. It is a link that will give us a head start, not only as we work through our studies but, as we plan for our futures."

Andrew Meadows, 'one' Human Resources Director, said,

Graham Webster, Senior Lecturer at AIBS, said:

'one' Railway is the trading name of London Eastern Railway, providing train services to the East of England from its London Terminal at Liverpool Street Station. The railway employs approximately 3000 people in a range of roles including operations, retail, finance, engineering and catering, operating 1800 trains each weekday serving 160 stations.
