The 2008 England Athletics East Region, supported by UK Athletics and Heidsieck & Co Monopole, took place at Homerton College, Cambridge on Saturday 20 September 2008 and featured Anglia Ruskin's Higher Skills @ Work Marketing and Communications Officer Suzanne Kuyser of Springfield Striders Running Club winning the Club Volunteer of the Year award.

Over 100 guests - including Dame Tanni Grey Thompson - enjoyed a great night dedicated to recognising the hard work and determination of clubs and individuals in the region that makes the sport happen throughout the year.

Mike Summers, Chief Executive of England Athletics paid special tribute to the volunteers who dedicate hundreds of thousands of hours per year to ensure that the structure is in place to allow athletes to compete.

Tom McNab, former Olympic coach and director of British Athletics spoke of the dedication and power in the region to make a difference as a coach, official, club person, young leader or development staff and how events such as the Awards dinner offer the opportunity to recognise success and say thank you.
