Observation: Searle Award for Creativity 2010

Date:
1-5 November 2010
Private View: Thursday 4 November, 17.00

This year's winners Rob Tovey (PhD Graphic Design), Ben Parker, (MA Children's Book Illustration) and Jo Miller (BA (Hons) Fine Art) exhibit their winning work.

The 2010 competition, which was based on the theme of Observation, went to Rob for his body of work entitled 'Maps: The Observation of Space'. Rob's work explores the role of maps and photo-maps in informing how spaces are observed. Jo's work is a film which observes the movements of the sun and the effect of the light passing through a still life made of resin, over an extended period of time. Ben's very personal work 'Compendium of Moments' documents his particular struggle as a bipolar sufferer and records his observations and comments on what he sees, feels and his struggle to engage with the world around him.

The annual competition, initiated by the great artist and alumnus of Anglia Ruskin University Ronald Searle to recognise excellence in a range of artistic disciplines, has this year been awarded to three talented students working in very diverse media.
