Vignette

Date: 10 - 17 September 2009
Time: 9am-5pm Monday to Friday
Private View: Wednesday 16 September 2009, 5-8pm

This exhibition by third year BA (Hons) Fine Art students at Cambridge School of Art is the result of a specific project that has been set, to work both with portraiture and using photographic technology.

The brief, to experiment within set parameters, represents an opportunity to work slightly outside the comfort zone. Artists rarely work in such a prescriptive way, unless producing commissions. For some, Vignette represents a completely new area of study, which hopefully will inform and enrich their practice.

Vignette looks beyond the traditional portrait to raise issues of identity, beauty, the gaze, voyeurism, pressure to conform, and a sense of place.

The exhibition was curated by third year student Sarah Rush, in collaboration with fellow students and Fine Art staff.
