Movement in Location
Date: 9 - 24 May 2012
Artist: Lizzie Sykes
Lizzie Sykes's work focuses on the sequential image, producing works that are about physicality on screen, and the sensorial impact of the viewer, working with dance, landscape and sound. In order to produce a particular feeling in an audience, Sykes alters the cameras herself; these changes to the original function of the kit reveal other ways of viewing work and connecting the audience to the production process.
These collaborations with dancers address the possibilities of choreographing offstage - using the moving image to challenge issues of proximity, liveness and impact. This exhibition saw Ruskin Gallery's digital screens come to life with a choreographed performance across multiple screens.
Performed by Catherine Seago, Caroline Sabin and Lizzie Sykes.
