Cardiology Research Unit

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a partner in our Postgraduate Medical Institute, and we will launch a joint Cardiology Research Unit with the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre later this year.

Health Innovation and Education Clusters (HIECs)

The purpose of HIECs is to bring together education, clinical practice and private sector companies to increase the rate of diffusion of best practice, innovation and research. The Maternity pathway, led by Pathway Facilitator Louise Jenkins and Pathway Fellow Lizzie Hamilton aimed to improve care for women, their babies and families across the North East & Central London and Essex area (NECLES).

ICENI Centre

The ICENI Centre is one of only four centres performing laparoscopic aortic surgery and has a wide portfolio of educational programmes, masters classes and workshops through to postgraduate pathways which are run in conjunction with Anglia Ruskin's Faculty of Health & Social Care.

Medical Engineering Research Group

Bioengineering focuses on research into biomechanics and prosthetic implants and includes stress analysis research leading to improved aspects of implant surgery and hospital care, and the development of a system for early identification of wear and joint replacement loosening in prosthetic implants.

Mental Health Research
Mental health research is relatively recently established at Anglia Ruskin University. A shared professorial appointment with South Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has enabled a range of research projects to be progressed and a number of members of staff at the Trust to work towards gaining a PhD.
