START Course - Simulated Transfer and Retrieval Training

START course at the PMI











The START course is a one day multidisciplinary course for all those who deal with critically ill patients requiring transfer - anaesthetists, intensivists, ODPs, critical care nurses and emergency medical personnel. It includes:

  • A full day of simulated practice of transferring critically ill patients in our high fidelity simulation suite
  • A systematic approach to transfer, for both real life and exams
  • Both inter- and intra-hospital scenarios
  • Preparation of patients, transfer and reception
  • Management of critical incidents on route
  • Feedback on practical and human factor aspects

The course is facilitated by Consultant Anaesthetists, Senior Critical Care Nurses and Senior ODPs from Broomfield and Southend Hospitals.
