Introduction to Ultrasound guided Nerve Blocks



This one day course teaches a practical approach to using Ultrasound in Regional Anaesthesia.

The course is suitable for both novice users and those with some experience of using ultrasound who wish to enhance their skills. Also ideal for those accustomed to nerve stimulator techniques wishing to add ultrasound to their repertoire.

The number of places is limited to 20 to allow plenty of time for practical skills.

We have support from several companies providing a range of ultrasound machines, needles and other equipment for use during the course.

Featuring
  • Theory of ultrasound
  • Hands on experience of scanning and needling
  • Scanning of live models

Blocks to include
  • Upper Limb - Interscalene Supraclavicular and Axillary brachial plexus, Forearm blocks
  • Lower limb - Femoral and Sciatic (popliteal approach) nerve blocks
  • Trunk - Transversus abdominis plane, Ilioinguinal, Rectus sheath blocks

The course is facilitated by Consultant Anaesthetists from Broomfield Hospital.
