The Professional Development Framework of the Academy of Medical Educators identifies four key areas relevant to clinical supervisors.

This one day programme looks at these key areas in detail and ensures that clinical supervisors understand their role in the education system and are able to deliver effective and excellent supervision.

Workshop objectives:

  • How to ensure safe & effective patient care through training
  • Explore the roles of clinical and educational supervisors
  • Self-assess against the Professional Development Framework
  • Identify the crucial features of the clinical learning contract
  • Review the use of workplace-based assessments and how they contribute to trainee development
  • Use the learning cycle to calibrate teaching for individuals
  • Explore a range of teaching and facilitation methods
  • Focus on opportunistic teaching in clinical settings

Note: this full-day workshop is complemented by a half-day workshop for Educational Supervisors. We recommend delegates attend this Clinical Supervisor workshop first.
