Clear and Clean - Assertion without aggression or submission

Clear and Clean
Next course date: 12th November 2013

We all have default ways of dealing with others, particularly when under stress.

This interactive workshop enables participants to consider their preferred methods, explore some options, and decide what to keep and what to adapt.

Workshop objectives:

  • Identify and practice assertion in order to improve work relationships and effectiveness
  • Identify your own assertion and conflict management style
  • Examine the relationship between words, voice and body language in helping others understand your message
  • Understand two key personality differences
  • Explore how to match assertion 'volume' to the needs of the particular person and situation
  • Examine the features of an Adult to Adult conversation
  • Reflect on how interpersonal history affects current teamwork
  • Consider the risks and benefits of assertive (rather than submissive or aggressive) behaviours
