ALERT Train the Trainer












ALERT Train the Trainer is an interactive study day which will allow candidates to develop the necessary teaching skills required for ALERT course instructors.

Suitable for doctors (consultant, staff grade and registrars), nurses and allied health professionals who work mainly in the acute specialities and who wish to become ALERT course instructors.

Course Aims:

  • Understand the principles of adult learning in the context of the ALERT course
  • Understand the philosophy of the ALERT course
  • Have knowledge of the structure of the ALERT course
  • Deliver effective lecture-based teaching to a large audience by considering the elements of set, dialogue and closure
  • Facilitate a standard 'scenario' as provided by the course materials
  • Effectively use educational feedback

ALERT Train the Trainers is facilitated by consultant anaesthetists, critical care and outreach nurses.
The course director is Gillian Donohue, Lecturer Practitioner, Critical Care Unit Southend Hospital.
