Uni4U Activities 2013

  • 'Graduation' event for students who participated in our Year 6 'Reach for the Stars' programme
  • 'Is it ever acceptable to eat people?': A ship sinks in a fierce storm. The sailors are cast adrift on the high seas for days on end in a small lifeboat. The food runs out and rescue looks doubtful. The cabin boy is sacrificed to save the others. Are they guilty of murder? Is 'necessity' a defence? Find out in an interactive re-enactment of this famous old case.
  • 'From Story to Stage': This writing workshop will take you through the process of turning a passage of fiction into a short script for the stage. Working collaboratively with others, you will make decisions about how a piece can be staged, learn the differences between writing for film and writing for theatre, and discover how to write dialogue that actors can deliver.
  • 'Money Recall?': A budgeting game run by our Lord Ashcroft International Business School.
  • 'Money Dilemmas': Game about the problems and moral dilemmas associated with money, with prizes for the best answers!
  • 'Consumer Behaviour': An activity that looks at your weekly grocery shop exploring the ways in which our buying decisions are made.
  • 'Palpating Mother': Learn to assess the size and position of a foetus using our clinical model.
  • 'Assist the Surgeon': Act as an Operating Department Practitioner, assisting the surgeon by handing them instruments. Learn about gowning up and aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • 'CPR to music': Learn resuscitation to songs by Queen, Eminem and even Nelly the Elephant.
  • 'Assess your lung capacity': Find out how well your lungs are working and learn about the factors that can affect how your lungs take up oxygen from the air.
  • 'Blood Pressure': Have your blood pressure checked by one of our current student nurses and find out the differences between automatic and manual methods.
  • 'Do you really know how to wash your hands?': Did you know, it take at least fifteen seconds to wash your hands properly?
