Nursery children experience theatre for the first time
On 27 and 29 March Brunswick Nursery brought two groups of children to visit the Mumford Theatre. Miles Berry, the nursery teacher, had contacted the theatre to request a visit as he was keen to show the children what life at the theatre was all about.
Richard Purkiss, Theatre Manager, and Leigh Stephenson, Production Manager, spoke to the children about what the theatre does, gave them a backstage tour and inspired the children with some visual effects that left them with wide eyes!
On seeing the orchestra pit being lowered Joseph, aged 4, said "I wish the floor moved at home" and Rose, aged 4, was enamoured by the coloured lights; "I love the lights and the way I go pink and then green, I think I look good in pink!". Miles said of the visits "It was a wonderful trip...and the children are still talking about it!"
By showing these young children how exciting the theatre is hopefully a new generation of theatre-goers will be encouraged to explore what the Mumford Theatre has to offer - right on their doorstep!
