The effect of mixing techniques on the structure and properties of acrylic bone cement and the implant-cement and cement-bone interfaces

Funded by Schering Plough, Anglia Ruskin University Research Development Fund.
Mixing technique plays an important role in the mechanical quality of the bone cement produced around joint implants, which in turn is a factor in the long-term stability of the implants. The aim of this project is to quantify the effects of different mixing techniques on the fatigue resistance and mechanical properties.
