Comparative clinical trial of the Spectron and Charnley total hip implants
Mr John Dowell, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Broomfield Hospital
The Spectron total hip replacement is a relatively new implant design, introduced to Scandinavia in the mid-1980s and followed up by means of the Swedish Arthroplasty Register, but only recently marketed in the UK. This randomised controlled trial aims to compare the Spectron hip with the well established and successful Charnley design.
