In November 2008 the LHRU marked a number of important anniversaries in women's history with its second seminar, 'What difference has the vote made? Women and Democracy in British politics and society'.
This event was chaired by Professor Mary Joannou, (Professor of Literary History and Women's Writing, Anglia Ruskin University). The speakers were Professor Pat Thane, (Leverhulme Professor of Contemporary British History, The Institute of Historical Research, London) and Professor John Shepherd, (Anglia Ruskin University).
