About us

General Information
Anglia Ruskin University aims to offer a variety of opportunities for judoka. The university has three focus sports - Cricket, Rowing and Judo. From September 2012 we have provided full-time judo training on its Cambridge campus.

Our full-time judo training program (20hrs per week) is for judoka who wish to be competitive. We will also offer internships in coaching, performance analysis and refereeing. Judoka who take up these internships will be able to train within the performance or recreational judo environment whilst developing other judo related skills. Anglia Ruskin won the British university championships in 2011 and 2012.

Anglia Ruskin has its own dedicated research group that sits within the unit for Sports and Exercise Sciences and has close links to the International Association of Judo Researchers. Our aim is to be the leading institute for judo research within the UK. We offer access to judo research for existing researchers and also postgraduate opportunities for those seeking a Masters or PhD.

Anglia Ruskin University is the deliver of the European Judo Union Level for Performance Coaching Award & Level 5 High Performance Coaching Award.

Anglia Ruskin is also one of eight centres within the UK that offers the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence on behalf of the British Judo Association. This is delivered in collaboration with Comberton Village College and allows 16-18 year old to be in full-time education whilst also training in a full-time judo environment.
