Tan Sri Dato' Teo Soo Cheng is Chairman of the Board of Governors of KBU International College, Malaysia, and Executive Chairman of See Hoy Chan Holdings Group. He has played a key role in the development of education provision within Malaysia, and has been heavily involved in advances in health services within the region. His efforts have been formally recognised by both the King of Malaysia and the King of Thailand.

In 1997 Tan Sri Dato' Teo Soo Cheng was made an Honorary Doctor of the University.

"Dato' Teo Soo Cheng is distinguished and widely known in his country. As a result of his drive and enterprise his business interests have covered a wide range of industries and services. At the same time he has been outstanding in the service he has given as a distinguished citizen to society. This service has ranged over the fields of education, housing development and health as well as expert assistance in times of crises. Through Dato' Teo's distinguished service, he was honoured by the King of Malaysia and the King of Thailand.

His interests in the field of education have covered primary, secondary and tertiary education. The award of an Honorary Doctorate of the University by APU is in recognition of Dato' Teo's contribution to education and the development of twinning programmes and support he has given in developing a strong partnership between Kolej Bandar Utama and APU which will enable Malaysian students to start their studies in Bandar Utama but complete their degrees and extend their experience through twinning arrangements with APU in the UK."
