"From 1969-1977 he held a range of posts at various research institutes including the Max-Planck Institute and the German Institute for Economic Research. In 1977 he was appointed to the Fachhochschule as Professor of Labour Market Economics.

In addition to his academic and research activity, Jurgen has served in a number of public offices in Berlin and between 1981 and 1983 he was a member of the Regional (Land) Parliament representing the Free Democratic Party (Berlin).

In the past 20 years Jurgen has made a major contribution to the development of Berlin and since his election as Rektor has made a major contribution to the further development of the relationship between Anglia and the Fachhochschule which was established under his predecessor in 1989.

It is in recognition of his work for both FhW Berlin and the continued development of the partnership with Anglia that the University honours Jurgen with a Fellowship."
