What happens at the ceremony?

In the venues you (the graduands) sit in the numbered seats. Your reserved seat number is indicated on your registration card. This is to ensure that all graduands are seated in the correct order when called for presentation.

Academic dress is normally worn at the ceremony by graduands receiving Anglia Ruskin University awards. Please note that caps should be worn during the ceremony.

During the ceremony the ushers will ask graduands to rise, a row at a time, and to approach the presentation platform.

Once your name is announced you should walk onto and across the platform to the centre point, where the Vice-Chancellor (or representative) will greet you and shake hands with you. Graduates are requested to return directly to their allocated seat and not to exit the venue.
