Andrea Medjesi-Jones: Reframing Gesture
Date: 20 October 2010
Time: 14.00
Venue: Ruskin 211
Gesture in painting is often seen (and dismissed) as either modernist or expressionist. Here, Andrea Medjesi-Jones, a PhD student at Anglia and a painter based in London, examines it from another perspective - as both spatial negotiation and as a trace of thought. Two artists, Emilio Vedova and Christopher Wool are
discussed in relation to these ideas.
Andrea has recently given papers at APT Gallery, London, organised by Leeds University and at the Third International Delueze Conference in Amsterdam, both this year.
