Jamie George at the 2010 Chongqing Organhaus Art Space
Venue: Organhaus Art Space, 501 Warehouse, Huanghjueping 126, Jiulongpo district, Chongqing City, China
PhD student and FARU contributor Jamie George undertook the 2010 Chongqing Organhaus Art Space International Artist Residency 'Project 6#' in August 2010. The award was offered after the proposal of a research project to explore and international exchange of artist's approaches and processes. Over the 5 weeks the residency resulted in an artist talk and solo exhibition.
The title of the exhibition, 'End/Success or Wonderful Forever', was a composite of the words written on a badge found in a Berlin flea market (The End) and a translation of a local supermarket. The exhibition played off the specificities of materialization and spatial concerns via an interest in cultural and economic symbols emphasized by the residency's location.
