FARU member wins funding for new series of International exhibitions

Nick Devison, FARU core member and Pathway Leader for both MA Printmaking and Master of Fine Art, has received funding to curate a series of International Exhibitions entitled Viewfinder, beginning at the ArtspaceH Gallery in Seoul, South Korea, in June 2011.

In addition to the exhibition, Nick will deliver a number of talks at Universities throughout Korea, having forged research links through collaboration with Korean Curator and Artist Hyewon Park.

Viewfinder aims to interrogate the creative intersections between digital and traditional practices as a means of reflecting upon the nature of representation through print media. Formally diverse, each artist engages with ideas concerning the instability of perception, dislocation of place, interventions and disruption of meaning. The result is a discursive engagement with the photographic image, which considers the contingent nature of perception, meaning and representation mediated through a digitised environment.

Exhibiting artists include Brook & Black, Ed Dimsdale, Johanna Love, David Ryan, Michel Evans and Mark Shaw, as well as Nick Devison himself.

The South Korean showing of Viewfinder is supported by Anglia Ruskin University, The University of Northampton and Sungshin Women's University. The series will continue with exhibitions at IMPACT 7, (the International Printmaking Exhibition) at Monash University, Australia, in September and our own Ruskin Gallery in November.
