Cally Spooner: Schwitter's Merzbau in Hanover

Kurt Schwitters, one of the great exponents of Dada created several installations entitled Merzbau in Germany, Norway and England. The most famous is the first one which grew organically in the family house in Hanover, the first room of which was reconstructed by the Sprengel Museum in the 1980s. Cally will examine the issues of reconstruction and authenticity in relation to this iconic piece. This relates to a series of curated radio talks by Cally to be broadcast by Resonance FM beginning this November.
Cally teaches on the MFA course as a Visiting Lecturer.
