Archaeologies - David Ryan

Date: Wednesday 28 September 2011
Time: 14.00
Venue: Ruskin 110 (off gallery)

This semester's series of FARU talks will address - through different perspectives - the relationship between ideas, histories and media. Concepts of both media- specificity and interdisciplinarity inscribe current practices in particular ways, also opening up various attitudes towards a construction of history. If the 'new' is a concept that has been articulated by technological innovation, then signs are that obsolescence is being replaced by a field of possibilities that realigns old and new technologies. This introductory talk will discuss some of the implications of thinking through our relationship to both medium and history.
