American Mountains Residency - Jamie George
In May 2011, FARU member Jamie George co-produced a residency entitled 'American Mountains', as part of Grand Union's 'Search Engine' programme.
The residency was based around the 'Greenway' park in East London. A series of workshop days were organised and presented to the public, including a group of artists and practitioners delivering talks, screenings, performances and research activities; looking at topics such as tourism, regeneration of spaces, ecology and global capitalism.
Playing on the name 'Greenway', which may suggest (in the mannered language of regeneration and property development) a journey, a tour, an ideology, a colour, a banner, a fable (a yellow-brick road). Material collected during the two weeks was compiled into a free limited edition publication entitled 'American Mountains - Greenway'.
