About us

The Childhood and Youth Research Institute (CYRI) aim is to bring together the diverse experience and expertise of academics from different disciplines who share an interest in children, young people and their lives and create a multi-disciplinary initiative which will support, encourage and produce research and publications of an internationally recognised standard.

Mission

The Childhood and Youth Research Institute will strive to:

  • Identify and respond to the cultural, social, emotional and medical needs of children and young people.
  • Influence and shape policy and practice relating to children and young people.
  • Research and explore factors which contribute to children and young peoples' physical, emotional and cultural wellbeing.
  • Specialise in bringing the voices of children and young people into research.
  • Bring critical mass and interdisciplinary perspectives to childhood and youth research.
