Dr Julio D'Escriván and his collaborators in the company Deep Visuals have been awarded a grant by the East of England Development Agency to investigate the feasibility of applying adaptive browsing and semantic methodology to the task of browsing museum digital image archives. This exciting and innovative project collaborates with various partners to produce a concept demonstrator that will provide a novel, personalised and engaging user experience for both virtual and physical museum visitors. The system will allow a user to guide their browsing experience simply by pointing at (or touching) images of interest to them, exploring a collection through image relationships, to unearth images and the stories behind them that would otherwise likely remain undiscovered.
